Marlboro’s 3rd Annual Arbor Day Celebration

The Marlboro Shade Tree Committee in partnership with the New Jersey Tree Foundation, hosted the Marlboro’s 3rd Annual Arbor Day Celebration on Saturday May 1, 2010.  Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts of Marlboro, along with parents, the Teen Advisory Committee and community volunteers, planted several hundred trees at the Marlboro Library located on Wyncrest Road.  The Marlboro Library was also the site for an Arbor Day Celebration 15 years ago where three 30’ pine trees stand today. Mayor Hornik was present at the ceremony which included a tree planting demonstration, a Proclamation and a tree dedication officially declaring Arbor Day in Marlboro.

All participants received Certificates of Appreciation, a Shade Tree Logo Bag, garden trowel, bucket and planting kit. A poster Contest awarded winners Barnes and Nobles Gift Cards which were donated by Turtle Creek Learning Academy in Marlboro. All garden gloves donated by Advance Wellness Center in Marlboro. Thank you to Bagel World and Wegmans for donating breakfast and volunteering their time.

Special thanks to the Marlboro Administration and members of Town Council for always supporting the Shade Tree Committee. Thanks to Bob Miller and DPW for their help preparing the sites.  Thank you to our speakers Maria Kramer and Shari Spero. A special thank you for Girl Scout Troop 1795 for their participation in the planning of the Arbor Day Celebration.
