RE: May Leaf Pickup

Dear resident,

The Department of Public Works (DPW) will begin leaf pickup as per the schedule published in the Recycling Calendar mailed to your home, available on-line or HERE.

The zone by zone LEAF ONLY pickup dates May:

Zones 3 & 5

May 1

Zones 2 & 4

May 8

Zones 1 & 8

May 15

Zones 6 & 7

May 22

Please note these dates are for LEAF ONLY pickup.  Brush pickup has been completed for all zones until June and there should be no brush curbside.    Leaves and brush may not be comingled

Leaves are to be placed either adjacent to the curb in piles or in biodegradable paper bags by 7:00 am on the first day of the scheduled pickup week, free of branches or other debris. For the safety of pedestrians and motorists, leaves should be placed at the curb no earlier than one week prior to the first scheduled collection date. Weather permitting, it generally takes approximately one week to complete each set of zones. Once a street has been completed, the Department of Public Works will not return to that street.

We also remind you that parking your car on piles of leaves is a fire hazard and also prevents access to the material for collection.

Leaves commingled with brush, grass, rocks, stumps, construction debris, fence posts, etc., trash or recyclables will not be collected. Landscapers or residents placing debris for collection in an unauthorized manner shall be required to remove the waste from the public right of way.

We also take this opportunity to remind you that that the annual Bulk Trash/Spring cleanup collection will take place between April 24 and May 22 according to the schedule printed in your recycling calendar.  The pickup schedule by zone and program specifics can be found in the recycling calendar mailed or in the Recycling Calendar link below.

Lawn debris can be brought to the recycling center throughout the year.  More information about curbside pickup can be found in the RECYCLING CALENDAR or by calling 732 536-0188. Thank you for your cooperation.

Robert Miller, Superintendent of Public Works
