BLIZZARD WARNING – Update #3
Dear Resident,
The National Weather Service has upgraded our area to a Blizzard Warning effective 7pm this evening until 7pm Saturday. The snow is expected to begin Friday evening with snow becoming heavy after midnight. Blizzard conditions with wind gusts as high as 50mph and snow totals of 8 to 15 inches will make travel difficult to impossible. The combination of heavy wet snow and high winds can lead to power outages. Additionally wind chill temperatures below zero are expected. I ask all residents to prepare for the possibility of being in your home for an expected period of time, possibly without power, until the storm passes and roads are cleared.
CLOSED –
The Township Recycling Center and the COVID Testing Truck will be closed Saturday.
PREPARE -
Your cooperation is needed during snowfall events to help the Township complete snow removal operations.
- NO vehicles or personal property such as basketball hoops may be in roadways during snow events and should remain off the roadways until all salting and plowing has been completed.
- Keep electronic devices such as cell phones, laptops and tablet computers fully
charged.
• Keep a flashlight, portable radio and extra batteries handy.
• Gather extra blankets or a sleeping bag for each person.
• If you have a water well and pump, keep an emergency supply of bottled water and/or
fill your bathtub with fresh water.
• Keep an emergency supply of convenience foods that do not require cooking or refrigeration.
JCP&L and Optimum/Altice –
We have been in touch with both JCP&L and Optimum and they are prepared to activate their storm response plans. We remind residents to NEVER go near downed wires. Assume all are live and dangerous and report to the police at 732-536-0100.
- In the event JCP&L outages, report directly to JCP&L calling 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877), clicking the “Report Outage” link on firstenergycorp.com, or by texting out to 544487.
- View/search for Optimum/Altice outage information on their interactive online map with display estimated resolution timeframes online at Storm Center Outage Map. Register for service alerts via text or voice message by signing up and opting in via My Account or call 866-950-3278.
