Coronavirus Update #42

Dear Resident,

Testing and Stats – New Jersey reported 375 new daily positive test results for a statewide total of 164,796.  Monmouth County has 8,512 cases with 478 in Marlboro. Of those 478 cases 418 have cleared.   We remind you that testing is available for all residents.  Visit TESTING to find a local testing location. 

This week the Governor announced that we are entering stage two of the recovery program and moderate risk activities can start.  When leaving home, New Jerseyans should wear a face covering and keep a social distance from others. All workers who can work from home should continue to work from home.

Stay-at-Home Order Lifted - Today Governor Murphy announced that he is signing an Executive Order to lift the stay at home order that originally went into effect March 21, 2020. 

Effective Immediately indoor gatherings will be permitted at 25% of a buildings capacity or 50 people; whichever is lower AND allows outdoor gatherings of up to 100 people are permitted.   This order is to explicitly allow for larger indoor religious services.   

Other openings effective June 15 are child care centers, outdoor dining, non-essential retail stores can reopen for indoor shopping, and the Motor Vehicle Commission will reopen for pickup and drop-off services. As I announced in my last update, we will be issuing temporary permits for outdoor dining for restaurants with an active Marlboro mercantile license that do not currently have approved outdoor dining or wish to expand already approved outdoor dining.  To apply, please email This email address is being protected from spambots. Effective June 22 organized, non-contact sports can resume, barbershops, hair and nail salons can open, and outdoor recreational and entertainment businesses can reopen with the exception of amusement parks, water parks and arcades; all high touch activities.  Later this month, the MVC will begin to offer behind-the-wheel road tests and new licenses and permits.

Marlboro Swim Club -   Today, Governor Murphy has announced that municipal and private swim clubs can open June 22.  We await guidance from the NJ Department of Health, but I am pleased to announce that the Marlboro Swim Club will be opening for the 2020 season.  We will let you know our opening date, plans, and procedures as soon as possible. To avoid confusion, no swim club memberships are being accepted at this time.  If you already registered, your registration is still effective.  We thank you for your patience as we work to ensure a safe environment for our MSC members. 

Increased Outdoor Gatherings and Graduations - It is anticipated that limits on outdoor gathering will increase to 250 people on June 22 and to 500 people on July 3.  In person graduations can begin July 6 and with the crowd size anticipated to be increased, schools can plan for larger in-person graduations. Please look for information from your school.

The NJ Economic Development small business grant program phase 2 application process is now open.  NJ COVID-19 Business Hub if you have not already applied. 

Dog Park- I am pleased to announce that the Marlboro Dog Park will reopen Friday morning at 8am.  Please maintain social distancing and when that is not possible, wear a face covering.  Please review the latest information from the NJ DOH on domestic animals and COVID-19. HERE.  

The Marlboro Farmers Market opened this past Sunday and about 600 people came out to shop.  The market crowds are controlled and social distancing maintained. The Market will be open again this Sunday and every Sunday from 9am – 2pm until September.  More about the Market guidelines and vendors can be found HERE and on Facebook and Instagram.
