ROAD TO REMAIN OPEN – CONSTRUCTION ADVISORY – POLICE PRESENT

Please be advised, on Thursday (12/3) from 7am-5pm, construction crews will be on Greenwood Road at its intersection with Martha Place performing water utility improvements.  The scheduled time frame for this work is weather-dependent, and every effort will be made to minimize any inconvenience to residents during this time.  The road will remain accessible during construction, although motorists are advised to use caution through the work zone.  Police Officers will be site to assist motorists and residents.

 November 27,  2018  GREENWOOD ROAD CONSTRUCTION – Greenwood Road, between Tennent and Texas, will be closed for milling and paving on Friday, November 30 and will resume Monday through Wednesday, December 3, 4, and 5. Work will commence at 7am and continue until dark. The road will be closed to thru traffic, detours will be in place and Police Officers will be on site. School buses and emergency vehicles will have access and local residents will have access to their homes. Please note that all road work is subject to scheduling/weather delays.

This is a continuation of Greenwood Road Phase I improvement, funded by a $220,000 NJDOT grant. As a part of this Phase I project, drainage work was completed earlier this fall in preparation for milling and paving.

  November 26, 2018  TENNENT ROAD/GREENWOOD ROAD CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:

MONDAY 11/26 - Road work began this morning. Greenwood Road is closed except to local traffic, emergency vehicles and buses.
TUESDAY 11/27 - No work planned. Roads open.
WEDNESDAY 11/28 - Greenwood and Tennent will have construction with lane shifts in place. Open to traffic, but expect delays.
THURSDAY – 11/29 Tennent Road is CLOSED between Spring Valley and Route 79. Detours will be in place. Avoid the area if possible. All residents will have access to their homes via detours.

Important Notes: As always, road work is subject to scheduling/weather delays. Electronic signs are posted in the area. Marlboro Police will be on site. Road work will take place from 7am until dark each day.

 November 1, 2018   ROAD PROGRAM UPDATE: As a part of Mayor Hornik's $5 million road improvement program, please note the upcoming schedule:

Old Mill Road - November 5 and 6 between Route 79 and Andrews Drive will be closed to traffic for milling and paving. A detour will be set up for the duration of the milling and paving and the roadway will be open at night and Marlboro Police will be on site. Please expect delays, avoid the area and use an alternate route, if possible.
Hawkins Road - November 7 and 8 between Janwich Drive and Union Hill Road. The road will remain open for milling and paving work with alternating traffic directed by flaggers.
Prince William Drive – Road preparation work will commence.

Sweet and Plowshare Courts – Road milling will take place on Thursday, October 18 and paving on Saturday, October 20.
Paddock and Harvest Courts – Road milling will take place on Monday, October 22 and paving on Tuesday, October 23.
Homestead Circle and Weathervane– Milling Wednesday and Thursday, October 24 and 25 .
Homestead Circle and Weathervane – Paving on Friday, October 26 or Monday, October 29.

These streets may be subject to alternate lane closures. Residents will be notified of any work adjacent to their driveways. Buses and emergency vehicles will have access.  October 3, 2018   ROUTE 79: A crosswalk and ADA compliant ramps were installed on State Road Route 79 leading from the front of Marlboro High School across Route 79 to Quincy Street. This, along with Police Officers directing traffic at dismissal, help to keep students and faculty safe. IMG 1692

 June 28, 2018  To protect and extend the life of our newly repaved roads the Township Council adopted Ordinance 2018-12 establishing a moratorium for roadway openings for a period of five (5) years following the resurfacing of a roadway. Details HERE.
 June 27, 2018   June 13, 2018 - Union Hill Road paved as part of the NJSH Route 9 resurfacing project using an NJDOT grant. The resurfacing included the ramps to and from the northbound side of NJSH Route 9 as well as Union Hill Road from the Route 9 overpass to approximately 200' west of the traffic signal at the intersection of Union Hill Road and the Union Hill Park and Ride/Cambridge Square entrance driveway.

June 20, 2018 UPDATE: Due to an engineering adjustment, this project will be delayed for several weeks. An update will be sent via email when the project is scheduled to resume.

May 2, 2018   Repairs to both roads will commence at 7am and end by 5pm each day. Lane closures may cause delays. Please note:
Texas Road - Repairs to approximately 75’ of deteriorated road between Amboy Road and the Forest green Cemetery driveway.
Robertsville Road – Repairs to approximately 100’ of roadway at the intersection of Robertsville Road and Ottawa Road South.

 April 23, 2018  Texas Road construction Phase III will begin on or about April 30, 2018 for a period of two weeks. Construction will occur between the hours of 7:30am – 4:30 pm. Expect road closures, detours and delays. Signage is in place, local residents will be notified, and police will be on site to direct traffic. Please plan an alternate route, if possible. 
 April 12, 2018  NJ DOT Grant $240,000 for Texas Road Phase III, from Greenwood Road to the Aberdeen/Matawan border. Scheduled for 2018.

August 22, 2019 DUTCH LANE PAVING: On or about August 26 through September 3 the Monmouth County Highway Department will be paving Dutch Lane Road from Colts Neck through Marlboro into Freehold. Paving will take place overnight between the hours of 6pm to 6 am. Detours will be in place as needed and police will be present to assist motorists.
August 21, 2019 ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE: Please be advised that Route 520 between Wyncrest Road and Gordons Corner Road will be closed for paving on Wednesday, August 28 beginning at 9am until completion (approximately 4pm). Detours will be in place and Officers on site to assist motorists. As always, this project may be delayed due to weather or scheduling. July 16, 2019 ROUTE 79 CONSTRUCTION NOTICE – Beginning Monday, July 22, the WMUA forced main sewer construction project will begin nighttime operations between the hours of 8:00pm and 6:00am. It is anticipated that this work will be completed within one week. Route 79 will remain open, but you can expect varying traffic patterns. Please heed Police Officer instructions, construction signage and traffic control devices. Residents directly affected have received notices. Thank you for your cooperation. July 11, 2019 ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE - Vanderburg Road will be closed at State Hwy 79, Friday, July 12 from 9am to 3pm. Traffic on Vanderburg Road going north on State Hwy 79 will be diverted to Hudson Street to Bucks Lane to 79 north. Traffic on Vanderburg Road going south on State Hwy 79 will be diverted to Hudson Street to School Road East to 79 south. Detours will be in place and Officers on site. July 2, 2019 Tuesday, July 2, 2019 - ROUTE 520 TRAFFIC ADVISORY - Traffic on Route 520 between Hamilton and East Francis Avenue will follow an alternating lane pattern as Marlboro Water Utility makes emergency repairs. Police are on site. Note that all water is safe to drink and there are no quality issues. TRAFFIC ALERT FOR SUNDAY JUNE 2 – 5K RACE
Please note that 'STOMP the Monster' will be holding their annual 5k race beginning and ending at the Recreation Center. The following roads will be closed from 9:15am - 10:15am:
•Wyncrest Road from Route 520 to School Road West
•School Road West at Stockton Road
•All side streets entering and exiting onto School Road West between Stockton Road and Wyncrest Road
•All side streets entering and exiting onto Wyncrest Road between School Road West and Route 520.
•Kennedy Drive and Stockton Road are open for exiting.
Emergency vehicles will have access, if needed.
If your road is on the race route, you will receive a SWIFT 911 call from the police. If you are on the route and do not receive the call visit http://www.marlboro-nj.gov/resident-communications.html and add your cell/home to the SWIFT 911 call list.

RACE COURSE

May 2, 2019 TRAFFIC ADVISORY - The State DOT will be doing emergency repair work on the shoulder of Route 9 south near the entrance to Marlboro Greens (Ivy Hill Drive) due to a sink hole. The sinkhole and repairs are located off the highway and no lane closures are anticipated. Repairs will be ongoing through rush hour and traffic delays are expected. Please avoid the area and use caution. Thank you.
April 24, 2019

April 25 Route 520 lane closures.

Thursday, April 25, 2019 at 7:00 am, Marlboro Township Water Utility Division will be installing new valves at the intersection of Carter Drive and Route 520. Route 520 will be open with alternating lane traffic patterns and Marlboro Police will be on site.

Please note that some customers will experience a water service interruption / low pressure event. Those affected will receive notification letters by end of business day today.
No changes in water quality or boil water advisory is expected as a result from the work being performed. Should you have question or experience a water quality or pressure issue, please contact Marlboro Water at 732-536-0200 ext. 1816 during working hours or Marlboro Police non-emergency number at 732-536-0100 during off-hours.

This will conclude all underground repair work on Route 520 related to last week’s water main break. Thank you for your cooperation as we complete this necessary repair.

April 22, 2019

ROUTE 520 ROAD CLOSURE –
Tuesday, April 23 at 7:00 am Road work and water valve repair will commence on at the intersection of County Route 520 and Wyncrest Road.
The following detours will be in place:

  • Traffic from Route 520 Westbound will be detoured at Wyncrest Road  to Gordons Corner Road.
  • Wyncrest Road will be closed at Gordons Corner Road.
  • Wyncrest Road at the intersection of Route 520 (at Library) will only be allowed to make right or left turns.

Detours will be in place and electronic signs posted.  Police Officers will be stationed at all effected intersections. 

Please note that low water pressure may occur in some areas.  Residents will be notified is water service is interrupted.  The water throughout the town remains safe to drink. As always, questions regarding water Marlboro Water Utility should be directed to 732-536-0100 ext. 1816 during normal business hours.  Off hours all concerns should be called into the Marlboro Police non-emergency line at 732-536-0100.

April 8, 2019

Brandon Road Sewer Main reconstruction project. WMUA , weather permitting, anticipates starting sewer main replacements
on or about April 15, 2019, with preparatory work commencing the week of April 8th, 2019. Construction will generally take place between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Starting the week of April 15th Brandon Road will be closed to through traffic during working hours. Cars may not be parked on the street within the work zone during working hours and cars that must be used during the day would be removed from the street prior to 7:00 AM. Every attempt to maintain access to driveways throughout construction as much as possible; however access may not be possible when work is occurring in front of your driveway. You will have access to your driveway at the end of each workday.

February 28, 2019 TRAFFIC NOTICE – Old Bridge Police have notified us that Route 9 Northbound will be CLOSED at Texas Road on Friday, March 1 from 1:00 pm until 5:00pm. Route 9 Southbound will be open. Detours will be in place but you can expect increased traffic. Please avoid the area, if possible.
January 28, 2018 Traffic Advisory - Dutch Lane - Monday 1/28/2019: The Monmouth County Highway Department has notified the Marlboro Township Police Department that Dutch Lane Road will be closed on 1/28/2019 from 8:30am to 5:00pm for pipe repair. This closure will take place between School Road and Buckley Road. A detour and message boards are in place to advise motorists.

June 6, 2018 ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE: Route 520 between Wyncrest and Route 79 will be CLOSED on or about Wednesday, June 13 and Thursday, June 14 from 9am – 1pm to allow JCP&L to cut back and remove overhanging trees as a part of the ongoing maintenance program. Local traffic and emergency vehicles will be allowed access. Detours will be in place and Marlboro Police on site. Expect delays and plan an alternate route. February 27, 2018 TEXAS ROAD CLOSURE: Please note that the road closure delayed from last week is now underway. Texas Road will be closed from Falson Lane to Mount Laurel Road. School buses, emergency vehicles, local residents, and business will be accommodated. Falson Lane will be closed from Monticello Drive to Texas Road. The Woods development must be accessed off of Ticetown Road. Vehicles travelling through will be detoured down Spring Valley to Tennent Road and back to Greenwood Road. Marlboro Police Officers will be on site to direct traffic. It is expected that this construction will last approximately one week. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience. February 20, 2018 TEXAS ROAD CLOSURE: Please note that the County Road Department will be closing Tennent Road in the area of Greenwood Road for one day tomorrow, February 21, from 9am to 4pm. There will be a detour set up at Greenwood Road and at Spring Valley Road following Texas Road. Marlboro Police Officers will be on site. School buses and emergency vehicles will be allowed access. Additionally, please note that the Texas Road closures and detours tentatively scheduled to begin today have been postponed. We will update you when it has been rescheduled. February 15, 2018 PLEASE NOTE TEXAS ROAD AREA CLOSURES scheduled on or about 2/20/2018 for approximately one week from 7:30am to 4:30pm. Texas Road will be closed between Falson Lane and Mount Laurel Road. Falson Lane will be closed from Monticello Drive to Texas Road. The Woods development must be accessed off of Ticetown Road. February 13, 2018 ROAD CLOSURE: Greenwood Road between Ticetown and the Old Bridge border is CLOSED until further notice. An underground Monmouth County pipe caused flooding and damage to the roadway and requires repair. County Road and Engineering Department are on site. The Marlboro Township Police Department has set up detours and will be present to direct traffic. Expect delays and avoid the area if possible. Thank you for your cooperation.
September 12, 2017 Last night the State began repairs to Route 79. This morning, Marlboro’s Police Division of Traffic and Safety contacted the State DOT and they confirmed they will be milling and paving the length of Route 79 beginning at Freehold Borough, through Freehold Township, Marlboro and into Matawan. The construction will take place overnight from 8:00 pm until 6:00 am the next day. They will be working in stages and one lane will be open at all times using an alternating traffic pattern. Although Route 79 will not be closed, traffic delays should be expected. The work is expected to continue through Friday, September 15 however, all work is weather dependent and can be postponed or extended. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
June 21, 2017 Tonight, Thursday, June 22, is Graduation Commencement for all 6 schools in the Freehold Regional High School District. The Marlboro Traffic and Safety Division reminds us to expect heavy traffic in the area of the Marlboro High School located on Route 79 between the hours of 4:00 – 7:00pm. If possible, please avoid the area as the graduates and their families enjoy this momentous occasion. Congratulations to all the graduates!
May 22, 2017 ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE: Be advised that Buckley Road, between Inverness Drive and Blueberry Hill, will be closed to through traffic on May 23 and May 24 from 7AM- 4 PM. TRAFFIC ALERT – November 29, 2016
Falson Lane between Texas Road and Monticello Court will be closed for 3-4 weeks for upgrades to the water and sewer lines as well as other road improvements. All vehicular traffic, including buses, will be detoured to Greenwood Road to Ticetown Road to Bernadette Drive. The road will be open to emergency vehicles only.

In addition, a small portion of Wooleytown Road will be closed from Sundew Road to Texas Road. The intersection of Wooleytown and Sundew will remain open and a detour will be in place from Sundew Drive to Mt. Laurel Road to Texas Road.
