Spring Storm and Road Closures
NWS Issues High Wind Advisory
Update #1
April 15, 2019

Dear Resident,

A severe storm moved through our area last night causing widespread outages in Monmouth, Middlesex and Ocean Counties. At this time, JCP&L is currently reporting approximately 2600 customers without power in Marlboro (this number has reduced as power has begun to be restored). We are in contact with our JCP&L representative and are receiving updates as they become known.

If you do not have power, please report your outage directly to JCP&L by calling 1-888-544-4877 (1-888-LIGHTSS) or visit the 24/7Power Center at www.jcp-l.com Reporting your outage is very important as it helps them isolate outages and improve restoration times. Additionally, they will contact you when power is restored, giving you the opportunity to inform them if it is not.

Please stay away from downed wires even if you think they are not live. Report downed wires to Marlboro police at 732-536-0100. Please do NOT call the police for power outage updates. They do not have access to that information and it is imperative that their lines stay open for emergencies.

Please note the following roads are closed due to downed trees and/or power lines:
1) Nolan Road from Dover to Yorkshire
2) Robertsville from Gordon's Corner to Ottawa Road south
3) Conover from Rt 79 to Brandywine
Police are on site, detours are in place and we ask that, if possible, you avoid the area.

The National Weather Service has issued High Wind Advisory for our area in effect from noon to 10pm today. Winds will be 20-30 mph with gusts to 50 mph. With the ground saturated from previous rain, trees and power lines will be more susceptible to the adverse effects of strong winds. For the safety of their employees, please note that JCP&L does not send workers up in bucket trucks during high winds.

If you have access to Social Media, please note that more frequent updates are made on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/marlborotownship/ and Twitter https://twitter.com/MarlboroTwp

The Marlboro Office of Emergency Management continues to monitor the situation. Please stay safe and if you are in an area without power, we ask that you check on neighbors that might need special assistance.
