Winter Storm Quinn #1
March 7, 2018

Dear Resident,

Marlboro is under a winter storm warning until 3am Thursday. Heavy snow, difficult travel conditions, possible power outages, and significant reductions in visibility are expected. The Marlboro OEM is monitoring conditions, our Department of Public Works is fully staffed, and we have been in contact with JCP&L.

Please remove vehicles and all other items (basketball hoops, garbage cans, etc.) from the roadways. This allows the plows to clear more effectively, and reduces the likelihood of damage to vehicles. Marlboro Office of Emergency Management delivered the following message via the emergency phone system:

This is a message from the Marlboro Office of Emergency Management. Due to the impending snow event that is expected to begin during the morning hours on Wednesday, March 7, we would like to remind residents that all vehicles must be removed from snow covered roadways to allow for snow plowing operations. The Governor has mandated that any vehicle that becomes disabled on State Highways must be removed and could be towed by Police at owner’s expense. Additionally, any vehicles abandoned on Township roadways shall be removed as well. Please try to limit travel until the event is over. Stay warm and safe. Thank you.

It bears repeating that having multiple lines of communication between the township and our residents is important. If you have not done so already, visit the Marlboro Website and sign up for Township Email Alerts. Please click HERE to register your home and cell phones for Police reverse 9-1-1 calls (police automated messages via phone) and text message updates. Follow the Township Facebook page @marlborotownship, Twitter @MarlboroTwp, as well as my Facebook page.

The on-line “Surviving the Snow” brochure on line and in the center of your recycling calendar, provides easy access to emergency phone numbers and websites. Check the Township website STORM UPDATES for past preparedness information.

Power outages should be reported directly to JCP&L by calling JCP&L at 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877) to report your outage or use one of their many on-line options as detailed HERE. Assume all downed wires are live and dangerous and immediately report to JCP&L or the Marlboro Division of Police.

As always, the Marlboro Police Department is available 24 hours a day at (732) 536-0100. For emergencies, call 9-1-1. We ask that you do not call the police for power outage information. They do not know and it is imperative that their lines remain open for emergencies.

In the meantime, please prepare. Make sure your phones are charged, have all medications, baby/child needs, fill your tank with gas, and check Ready.gov for more ways to keep your families safe. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and assistance. We will update you as more is available.
