RE: Storm Update 11:00am

Dear resident,

Last night, with very little advance notice, the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for our area. This fast moving storm brought high winds and rain, downed trees and wires, closing roads and causing power outages.  Last night, at the height 44,000 of JCP&L customers were without power in Monmouth County.  As of 10:30 this morning, there are 8,197 Monmouth County homes without power, including 1500 Marlboro residents.

At this time, the following roads remain closed with detours.  Police are on site.  Please follow the detours and do not drive through barricades.  Assume all wires and live and dangerous.

Report to police and do not drive over or touch them.

  • Wyncrest Road by Township Drive
  • Pleasant Valley Road between Conover Road and Mockingbird Lane
  • Route 520 between Crine and Emerald
  • Amboy Road

We are in communication with our JCP&L representative and they have indicated an estimated time of restoration of 2:30pm today for the following locations. Please note that for security purposes, only general areas and names are listed, not specific streets.

  • Amboy and Tennent Roads
  • Crine, Route 520, Gordons Corner
  • Igoe, Pleasant Valley, Conover
  • Main Street, Village, Vanderburg, Buckley, School Road East
  • Topanemus, Roberstsville, Wyncrest

If you have not reported your outage to JCP&L, please do so even if you have a generator.  Reporting, outages and times of restoration for your specific street can be found HERE: http://outages.firstenergycorp.com/nj.html

Due to the circumstances of fast moving storms, emergent updates may be made to the Town’s official Facebook page.  If you have access to Facebook, please like and follow us at https://www.facebook.com/marlborotownship

Marlboro has been visited by Henri, Ida and, along with last night’s storm, we are reminded that hurricane season continues until November 30.  Please ensure you have all lines of communication open with the Town by visiting RESIDENT COMMUNICATIONS and review the NJ STORM RECOVERY NEWSLETTER . Together, we can plan and prepare and weather any storm.

We will continue to work with JCP&L until all residents are restored and will update you as more is known.

Mayor Jon Hornik
