Weekend Update

Dear Resident,

This Sunday is our Marlboro Farmers Market Fall Holiday event.  More than 40 vendors will be there including food trucks, crafts, and gift ideas. Delicious food for your holiday table and plenty of items to stock up for the winter ahead. Please see below for details. 

In addition to the Sunday Holiday Market, paper shredding and leaf bag pickup will be held Saturday.  We kick off the holiday season with our Winter Holiday Lighting on November 30.  See below for more. 

NOTICES

Thanksgiving Holiday Schedule – Town Hall Municipal offices will be CLOSED Thursday November 24 and Friday November 25 in observance of Thanksgiving.  Zone 3 recycling pickup will have a special collection day on Saturday, November 26. Please have your recycling curbside the evening before.  The recycling center will be open normal hours on Saturday.  See the Recycling Calendar for more.  

Leaf Collection – The curbside, piled leaf collection is underway by zone. Information has been sent via email and is posted on top of the Township website and linked HERE.  Please review the letter, follow the schedule and regulations to ensure our streets stay safe and clean.  We ask that you ensure that leaves are not placed near storm drains so that water can run freely and prevent flooding.  We appreciate your cooperation. 

Leaf Bag Pickup – Bagged leaf collection will begin when the piled collection is complete.  The Township provides 25 leaf bags to every home at no charge. Simply complete the SDL form HERE and bring the emailed permit with you to DPW Monday to Friday from 7am to 2:30 pm.

Leaf Bag Distribution Day - The second Saturday leaf bag distribution is November 19 (on-line permit must be complete by 1pm day before). See the SDL form link above for the free leaf bag permit. 

Paper Shredding for Marlboro Residents Only – Saturday, November 19 from 9am – 1pm or until the truck fills.  Weight limit of 100 pounds strictly enforced. See FLYER for details.   Note that this event coincides with a Saturday leaf bag pickup day. 

PROGRAMS AND EVENTS

Marlboro Farmers Market Fall Holiday Event – Join us at the Farmers Market for a holiday market on Sunday, November 20 from 9am to 1pm.  Food, crafts, returning and new vendors, gift ideas, and more. More than 40 vendors are expected and this is the last market before we close for the winter.  The list of vendors can be found HERE.  

Holiday Lighting – Wednesday, November 30 is our annual Holiday LightingHeld outside in front of Town Hall, we light the Christmas Tree and Menorah, enjoy photo ops and visitors from the North Pole.  Holiday music is provided by the Marlboro High School musicians led by Conductor Dalton.  This year our dessert buffet extravaganza is back! Multi-Cultural Day – Join us Sunday, December 4 from 1 to 5pm for our 14th annual event.   Please see flyers to be an Ethnic Performer or an event sponsor. See ‘Upcoming Events’ on the Township website for more.   

RECREATION ROGRAMS

Winter break mini-camps registration is underway.  Inspiration Basketball League for children with special needs coming in January, 2023.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Affordable Housing and Rent Control Board – The AHA is charged with implementing policies and goals of the Township’s Affordable Housing ordinance.  The AHA works with the administrative agent and the AHA attorney to ensure compliance.  Meetings are held monthly on a Tuesday evening.  To learn more, please complete the CSA Form HERE.  

First Aid Squads Need You! Give back to your community and learn invaluable life skills.   Marlboro and Morganville First Aid Squads offer free EMT certification and driver training to recruits, and active membership also qualifies volunteers for discounts on various Township fees and memberships and an annual contribution towards an individual retirement-type program.  Want to learn more? PUBLIC SAFETY

Safety Update – Please remember to lock your car doors, take the key fobs inside, remove garage door openers, lock your doors and set alarms.  If you have not yet done so request an ‘I Took the Pledge’ lawn sign and download the ‘Neighbors’ app.  To read more about how we, as a community, are working together to keep our home and property safe, click HERE.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Marlboro Township Public Schools Hiring Event – On Wednesday, November 30th MTPS will be hosting an Open House and Hiring Event. Please see the Event FLYER and the Refer a Friend FLYER

ANCHOR Program (Date Extended!) – This replaces the Homestead Benefits program and provides property tax relief to NJ residents who owned or rented their principal residence and meet the income requirements.  Filing deadline is now January 31, 2023 and renters whose units are under a PILOT agreement are now eligible.  For more, visit the state website HERE.   

COVID-19 Ratepayer Relief Measures –Measures are in place to provide relief to ratepayers experiencing economic hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic.  The NJ Department of Community Affairs has developed a low income household water assistance program.  Please review the letter from the Marlboro Water Utility HERE.
