Master Plan

The Marlboro Township Master Plan is a coordinated approach to town planning that is designed to benefit residents as well as businesses and to ensure quality of life standards as Marlboro Township continues to grow.

In accordance with New Jersey Municipal Land Use Law, the municipal master plan shall consist of at least two elements: a statement of objectives, principles, assumptions, policies, and standards upon which economic, and social development of the municipality are based; and a land use plan element illustrating existing and proposed location, extent, and intensity of development, including the relationship to the existing and proposed zoning. Discretionary plan elements include housing, circulation, utility service, community facilities, recreation, conservation, economic, historic preservation, recycling, sustainability, farmland and open space preservation.

The master plan should contain as applicable, maps, diagrams and descriptive content. The document requires periodic re-examinations on a 10 year basis that should reflect any significant change in the area since last reviewed and subsequent goals for the community. It is the responsibility of the Planning Board to assess, and after public hearing, adopt the master plan. The Master plan elements should act as a foundation for regulatory modifications made to township zoning and programs.
