Tax Collector

Property tax information can be found using the link on this page “View & Pay Property Taxes Online”.
The estimated bills will be mailed out by the end of June. The due date is August 1st, and the grace period ends on August 11, 2025. All payments must be received by 6:00 pm on August 11, 2025 to avoid interest. Any payments received after the grace period will be assessed interest calculated from the due date (August 1st). The Tax Collector’s office will have extended hours on Monday, August 11, 2025 from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm.
The Monmouth County Board of Taxation certifies a final 2025 tax rate once each of the County, Township, School and Fire District budgets have been approved. The Township has been advised that the approval of the Freehold Regional High School District (FRHSD) budget by the NJ Department of Education may be delayed due to pending State legislation. As a result, and in order to ensure the continuity of County, Township, School and Fire District operations, Marlboro will be issuing estimated tax bills for the third quarterly installment of 2025 taxes.
Please note that since this is only an estimate, and because the first two quarters were billed using the 2024 tax rate, the amount billed for 3rd quarter will not represent one fourth of the total 2025 taxes. Once the County Board certifies the tax levy, the tax collector will mail out final 2025 tax bills. The 4th quarter amount will represent the remaining balance due for 2025 taxes.
The Tax Collection Division is responsible for calculating and collecting all current and delinquent property taxes, charges, penalties and interest, and accounting to the Director of Finance for all collections. The Tax Collection Division is also charged with:
- Performing tax searches and other liens on real property in the Township and charging and collecting fees for such searches.
- Preparing and mailing tax bills, collecting taxes, and maintaining tax accounting records.
- Depositing all monies received in one or more depositories, in accordance with the Township’s Cash Management Plan, and maintaining complete records and accounts of all sums collected.
Property tax bills are mailed once per year in July and include four (4) quarterly payments. Taxes are due on the first of February, May, August and November. There is a 10 day grace period after which interest is applied. Please note that the State of New Jersey does not allow the Tax Collector to acknowledge postmarks and that the Tax Collector is not responsible for lost or delayed mail. Therefore, taxes must be received in this office on or before the 10th. If the 10th falls on a weekend or a legal holiday and the office is closed, the grace period is extended to the next business day. Payments received after the grace period will be assessed 8% interest per annum on the first $1,500.00 of delinquency and 18% per annum on all balances over $1,500.00 calculated from the due date (the 1st). Any balances in excess of $10,000.00 on December 31st will be assessed a 6% year end penalty.
