UPDATE #2

RE: High Wind Warning/Rain

Dear Resident,

As our office of Emergency Management tracks the storm system entering our area, we remind residents to take the time to plan and prepare now.  The forecast hazardous weather conditions including heavy rain and wind with gusts of more than 50mph coupled with already saturated grounds from December storms can lead to flash floods and power outages.

Residents are urged to visit Ready.gov to prepare.  We have been in contact with JCP&L and they are prepared to activate their storm response system.  In the event outages, report your outage by calling 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877), clicking the “Report Outage” link on www.firstenergycorp.com, or by texting out to 544487.

If you have not already done so now is the time to secure or bring inside outdoor decorations, bring in garbage/recycling containers and lay down or bring in basketball hoops. Keep personal electronics charged and gather flashlights and batteries.

Please note the following updates:

  • Governor Murphy has declared a State of Emergency beginning at 5:00 p.m. today for the entire state allowing resources to be deployed as necessary for the duration of the storm.
  • Both FRHSD and Marlboro k-8 have cancelled all after-school activities. Accordingly, all Recreation after school programs are cancelled.
  • Marlboro Zoning Board Meeting scheduled for this evening is cancelled.

If possible, please stay off the road during the height of the storm allowing first responders clear access.  Assume all downed wires are alive and dangerous. Never drive around the barriers blocking a flooded road.  If a road is flooded, turn around.  Report to the Marlboro Division of Police at 732-536-0100 to report.  In case of emergencies, dial 911.

We will update you as needed.  Stay safe.
